Condition & logistics
Running vs. Not Running
Motorcycles are accepted in any condition, whether they roar to life or sit silent. Even bikes in disrepair can still fuel change through your generous donation!
Title Issues
Ensure the title is signed with the odometer reading. If you can’t find the title, we can still work with you—just give us a shout, and we'll guide you through the process.
Storage and Pickup Logistics
We’ll arrange a time to pick up your motorcycle, even if it requires a little extra logistics. Just let us know where it’s stored, and we’ll handle the rest.
Title transfer & paperwork
In Minnesota, transferring the title of your motorcycle is key to smooth sailing. You need to fill out the Minnesota Vehicle Title Application (Form PS2000) and make sure to have it signed. Notarization is not required unless you’re transferring it to a business. Remember to return the plates to the DMV, as they’re not transferable with your motorcycle. This way, you can ensure everything is above board while you help contribute to the community.
Tax deduction for this donation
Your motorcycle donation can yield a tax deduction ranging from $500 up to the selling price if it’s sold at auction. You will receive IRS Form 1098-C, which details the sale price and helps you claim your deduction. It's a win-win: support charity, clear your space, and get some tax benefits in the process!
Local context — Minnesota
Motorcycles in Minnesota come from all walks of life. Residents often donate their bikes due to personal circumstances like divorce, downsizing, or relocation. The rich motorcycle culture here—from rallying at the Sturgis rally to cruising around Lake Minnetonka—means that many bikers eventually find themselves with bikes they no longer use. Our donors frequently share stories of cherished memories on their rides, making each donation a piece of local history that can help others.
